Vijay Subramaniam, MD
Aviation Background
First and foremost, I am a general aviation pilot with single and multi-engine IFR ratings. I currently own and fly an Aero Commander 500B (N698R), which you will likely see at the airport during your exam. My next aviation goal is to obtain a seaplane rating and fly a seaplane to my home on the Potomac River.
Medical Career
On the medical side, I am a licensed physician in Virginia, board certified in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine. I practiced in Williamsburg for most of my career and retired from clinical practice in 2022 to pursue research and development of cutting-edge medical technologies. I now work remotely for a biotechnology company during the week.
Family
Some of you may know my wife, Sarita, who practiced in Williamsburg as a geriatrician and obesity medicine physician before her retirement from clinical practice. We have two daughters who have successfully launched into the world. Prema has completed her master’s degree and is currently seeking employment. Priya is a midshipman at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. (How awesome would it be to pull up to the academy dock in a seaplane?)
Clinical Practice Note
As I no longer practice clinical medicine, I am unable to perform basic med evaluations. These require a physician-patient relationship. For this reason, I do not have access to any of your clinical or pharmacy records.
